Firefighters Battle Barn Fire

Stafford, VA – May 7, 2017 – Stafford County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Green Acre Lane in the Rock Hill area at 3:13 p.m. today. The first arriving engine from the Shelton Shop station found a 20 foot by 30 foot wood barn significantly involved in fire. The fire was beginning to extend to an adjacent workshop and crews immediately began to extinguish the fire while also protecting the exposure of the workshop. Additional units arrived and assisted in establishing a rural water supply operation as there were no hydrants in the area. The fire was brought under control in approximately 45 minutes. Several small livestock perished in the blaze which is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office. The barn was a complete loss and the workshop sustained damage to the roof and walls. A damage estimate is incomplete at this time.

Firefighters and EMS personnel from Shelton Shop Station 14, Stafford Station 2, Mountain View EMS Station 4, Mountain View Fire Station 4, Brooke Station 5, Hartwood Station 6, Rock Hill Fire Station 8, Rock Hill EMS Station 8, Aquia Station 9, and Berea Station 12 responded to the alarm. Fauquier County also responded to assist at the scene.
