IMG_3528

Stafford, VA – August 29, 2017 – Stafford County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to Brent Point Road and Arkendale Road at 9:40 am for an accident reported to involve a train. The first arriving unit found an Amtrak locomotive and a tractor-trailer collision on the railroad tracks. There were no reported injuries after crews did a walk-through of all seven train cars to check. The tractor-trailer was hauling an outdoor shed/barn kit and was struck near the coupling of the tractor and the trailer. The driver denied injury. Preliminary reports indicate the tractor was stuck on the tracks and the driver attempted to flag down the train. The train was able to slow down but could not stop prior to the collision. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

Units responding to the incident: Widewater, Aquia, Garrisonville, Brooke, Rockhill, Quantico, Operations Deputy Chief, EMS Captain.
