It is the responsibility of the Fire Marshal’s Office to ensure public buildings and other places of assembly comply with the (adopted) State and County fire code to ensure a fire safe environment for the public. The Fire Marshal’s Office conducts inspections annually at public and private schools, daycare facilities, group homes, nursing homes, restaurants, motels and nightclubs. The Fire Marshal’s Office has also developed a Fire Corps program to assist with the inspection process. Some businesses are required to obtain Fire Code Permit to conduct business in Stafford County.
Annual fire inspections will ensure that businesses with unique hazards, places of assembly, and places of education meet the requirements of the Fire Code to ensure that fire and life safety features are maintained to ensure a safe and expedient evacuation of occupants in the event of an emergency.
